Boaters,

I have had some orders recently from Twin owners, that want to try some

different propellers. Could anyone share what is working well for them?

I usually recommend H-48's or 1667's. I hear the 2714's are running well

also.

Thanks, B)

Mark,

It's amazing how fast and just how different twin props have become now a days. I gotta say I feel behind the times since I always ran X-457 on the .67's and if I recall right X460's on my .80's.

I understand that the prop spacing is a factor of how much diameter and pitch is needed due to each prop running in the other's propwash. What do you guys recommend for spacing between stubshaft centers?

I am running an old style Eagle (first model - does that make it an FG - First Generation) with twin CMB 90's on 50%. In Ozzy, due to the nature of various sites, we have different size courses. On a smaller course I run cupped-up H38's - accelerate like stink but no big top end. For the larger courses I run cupped H48's and H50's.

My favouite are a pair of H50's with 2mm taken from the diameter and re-pitched to 6.5" of pitch. Great on the bigger courses.

Jim (ABC) has sent over a bunch of props for us to test with and we will start this weekend. Found we had to make all new shafts as the hubs on the newer props are longer than the older H series so they did not fit correctly.

Looking forward to seeing how our twins go against all the 'quick kids' at the nats in both LA and Jackson. I think we have 4 coming over. Only 28 more sleeps before we leave for LA.

The last Twins I tried to see their Cups.....They both slapped me!!!!!!

Gene :p

What'd you say? Did you tell them they needed their diameter reduced? :p

I run a twin hydro with CMB 90's on 25% and it likes H667 pitched up or H48's pitched up

I did a little test on Dale H's twin once during practice for the Nationals.

He was a big fan of the H50's on the K90's. I told him to go out and do a full race distance on a measured course as fast as he could and timed it each lap and the full race distance.

We then ran it with the pipes over 3/4" shorter with pitched up H38's and repeated the same test. The H38's appeared slower but the clock revealed something totally different every single lap! The boat was peaking out about 10 feet into the straights instead of 20 feet from the end of the straights.

He won the nats for that class that year.

You twin owners need to come to Huntsville for our Fall Race the John Hall/Gene Taylor Memorial Race October 9-10 for our special traveling Mulit-Engine Trophy so far only Harry gerhart and Mark Bullard have won it.

Boaters,

Thanks for the responses,I have some new ones to report on also. The new

ABC 2516 and 2616 are working really well too. The 2516 works the best

with MAC 84's, and the 2616 is working very well with CMB 90's. Good heat

racing setups with both propellers, with speeds in the 80's to low 90's. I have

a full compliment of ABC,Octura, and Prather propellers in stock. Some are

asking for my web site address: http://www.props4u.com/ :)

Thanks Again For Sharing,

Mark Sholund

Tim.... Ya know if that boat had the propshafts in line with the engines and not sapping so much power from the drivetrain the H50s may have been the go!!! Maybe you should wait till that boat next hits the water (under the Eat My Shorts Racing banner) and with the boat set up properly including new rear sponsons....
