Hi all,

Currently I am in the process of building a 2nd wood 33 FE kit to make this a twin rigger. Each side will have a TP4070 and XLX2 esc.
I have utilized a few parts sold by Zippkits for the R6 rigger they will offer at some point (10mm boom tubes, 10mm long boom tube sleeves, and boom tube collars)
You can probably see I am setting up the sponsons further forward to aid in stability for high speed use.

This boat will be exclusively used for GPS speed runs.

For any experienced high speed SAW guys. What are your thoughts about having the 2 main hulls separated by an inch leaving an air gap?
I am looking to mitigate blow-overs as much as possible.
 
Made some decent progress on the build and nearly ready to paint. The last big task is to make another stealth cowl. I am not sure where everyone orders their birch ply from but Balsa USA is where I ordered from and the wood looks to be good quality.

The old one on the left has fiberglass reinforcement inside and the new build on the right has carbon fiber twill.

interesting for sure. will be following your progress. Think you will be able to get enough flotation in it?

That is a concern on a prior crash the original orange FE 33 sank. Luckily the pond was shallow and I was able to retrieve it.
There isn't much space inside for flotation except for some area around the lipos and motor.

you know I used to race motorcycles and they invented a C02 cartridge suit that blew up on impact like an airbag. I wonder if something like that could work in a boat. a standard cartridge and a folded balloon.

I have not seen a small scale product like that, but had a similar thought.
What I have found and recently purchased 3 of these is something to help retrieve the boat should it sink:

Have not tested the GetterBack on a boat yet. Where to put it on the boat and would the device survive the ride…? Has to be mounted exterior hull so the bobber deploys and floats to the surface. The GetterBack does work.

This will be one of the last parts of the project, but I was considering 3d printing something for it. I was thinking it would be better to attach to the main hull incase the hatch blows off in a crash.

I did find there is a wrist watch sized inflatable device sold on Amazon/eBay. You would need a servo on a sperate channel to activate it. This may be something I consider later on.
