The B ob tunnel record was set by Tommy with a Novarossi Short stroke w/ K&B lower from Rod Gereghty.

I believe Rod still has it on the shelf.

It took a while, but the 21 record has been eclipsed by KP now

what ob did tommy lee use to set the 21record ?
All the "latest" .21 records Tommy held were set with a Novarossi 2000/SS with a McGraw [speedmaster] outboard conversion kit with a custom massaged PTO and a .295" carb.

I still have the motor and it ain't goin' no-where....... ;) ...

There were earlier .21 records where Tommy used K&B .21 outboards.

All other outboard records set by Tommy were set with K&B motors.

Rodney,

Is the record you are referring to still in the book?

The .21 mod tunnel and outboard hydro records[sAW & 2 lap] were the only .21 O/B records that Tommy held.Over the years he just set them several times.

Tommy never held any Sport .21 tunnel records.Tommy left racing before there was an opportunity to set records in the .21 Sport tunnel classes.

The .21 mod tunnel SAW record fell to Kentley and I may be wrong but don't you now hold the outboard hydro record?

Yes, I do. The O/B hydro SAW record was broken with my stock O/S 3.5cc powerhead at 70+ mph.

While we are talking about records: When I try to view the current records, it doen't look like they have updated them yet. None of the people that I have talked to that set records in NC have recieved their patches or records in the mail. Kentley and I were discussing that the other night.

I would like to see more people show up at the time trials with their new and improved O/B Tunnel Boats. It seems to me that if there is really some improvments being made, you would see more people coming to these events.

It is not as easy as you might think but it is a lot of fun.

For what engine to use, Kentley Porters Nova Rossi engines are Light Years above anything Tommy Lee has ever had. Un real....a must see to believe engine.

Hi Carl, how about some more info on your record setting o/b hydro? I remember it being discussed here a little bit. I think it was John Finch who said it was an incredible boat. Any pics?

Hello Joe,

I will ask if someone there took a picture of it. I didn't take any. I have it disassembled right now but I will be putting it back together to run this spring. I will get you some pictures of it then.

Bob...Come to the time trials with us!

I have a very nicely running NR, that might be able with the right fine adjustments to set records too......

It will not change owners....

During all my testing with a 21 tunnel I found that a decent engine is only a small part of going fast. The major part is right pipe, boat set up and a prop. The prop is the key factor! I had Andy Brown and Chris Grim work on the props for my SAW Lynx. Out of 10 or so props I had from Andy one was incredible. That one prop would run 70-75 every pass and the boat attitude was perfect, no porpoising. That prop got destroyed when the prop shaft decided to back out! We tried to duplicate that prop with no sucess. Chris made me several props that were insanely fast, however I did not get enough time to test these props before TT to see there full potential. In conculsion, you can have the super duper engine but what prop its turning will get you in the record book.
