titan 21 set up

does anybody have set up info on a aeromarine titan 21. need cg or recomend a general starting point or is there a general rule like percentage from the back of the transom based on length of boat. thanks for any input.

General rule of thumb is 33% from transom

Can you not get through to Aeromarine? they would have the correct answer

thanks for the info, i have emailed them twice and called once and still havent received info. i bought the boat from them several months ago and it came with no paper work.

33% on this boat...gets a bit flighty at higher speeds. What .21 are you running?

I cut mine down to the point where the rails meet the transom, there is no rail. This stop it flying over a bit, but get the cg forward.

Lotza luck. I got one when they first came out, right from Remy himself. The blueprint that came with it was for his Challenger hull, not the Titan .21. I ended up by just using the rules of thumb at the time, 27% CG.

I made the mistake of buying his hardware kit for it also as almost everything didn't fit. I ended up by replacing the strut, rudder, motor mount and trim tabs with Speedmaster parts as they didn't have the drop-down mount at the time.

Big hint here. Seeing how it's got such a big Vee in the hull, the strut has to go a lot higher than you'd think as mine chine-walked like crazy anywhere over half-throttle. I'd start with the centerline of the prop at least 1/2" or more above the bottom.

thanks for the info.by looking at the rails where the are higher up toward the front one would assume this is where you would normally mount the engine and if so this would put the cg at about 35% or so. this seemed a bit to far forwared but after your info it sounds like this is where i need to mount motor.this will at least get me in the ball park. i have a os21 on the shelf but most likely put a nova rossi 21. if i am able to get it from a friend. i am using speedmaster drive . would appreciate any pictures or other set up info. thanks kent

I managed to dig up one shot early this morning but it ain't pretty, I'm in it! Now to find a way to post it as this site doesn't like me when I try to.

I ran mine with a Nova Rossi also and an Irwin quiet pipe. Just after I fixed the chine-walking problem I sold it as the Speedmaster 21 had just come out.

One thing I would do, and I know the balance of everything is different, but speak to the electric guys. some of thoise guys have these titans flying...the os would be a nice motor for the boat, a ross will need more attention but will be faster. From memeory, the plug of my engine was about an inch in front of the hatch mount..using a mac pipe, speedmaster hardware and standard size servo's, that put my cg at dry weight around the 33%. either way, you will need to do your fuel tank first...you aint getting your hand in there once the engine is mounted!!

I like the boat...its not a record breaker, but looks good and is fun to drive. Take ron's advice and lift the prop up about 1/4" more than normal...it'll run deeper in the wsater but due to the higher degree deadrise, this will settle it down.
