I personally was not considering swapping out the motor on race day...thinking it would be too much of a headache. But from a couple of different angles.

1) The boat could be initially run in the T-Boat class with the less expensive stock Zenoah and then upgraded to a more expensive motor later and THEN run it in a scale class.

2) If it was set up for scale and there were no scale classes to run in...it could be downgraded to run in the Classic Thunder class.

As far as the 103/106 hulls go, the PNWTA rules allow the width to be 24.19" so that would make it legal. As far as I know, both IMPBA and NAMBA are following the PNWTA scale rules...am I wrong in thinking this?
