I have been running nitro for the last three years. My wheels have been spinning about building a FE! I have a few questions:

1) Is the VS1 hull good for FE (it is nitro)?

2) what size motor to put on a .20 size hull to be legal for a class?

3) Does anyone make a electric conversion for a K&B or Lawless lower (same)?

4) I would like to see some picks of builds, on tunnels. That would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Tim Leyde

Hi Tim,

Myself and Doug Peterson put together a FE Guide for District 4. The guide was written to an audience of nitro/experienced racers in mind, and focuses solely on the P-limited classes. It covers available motors, ESCs, Batteries, Chargers, connectors, BECs, starter props, and popular race hulls for the various spec classes.

See attached document below. Hope it helps.

Tim here is one more picture of a VS-1 where the builder is adding the battery compartment to the original radio box. Many do it this way. It's a little less work. I just like the cleaner look of the one piece unit. Both ways work fine. Some put the servo up front, some put it all the way back. Battery goes in the middle and you ususally have a little extra room to move the battery fore and aft to adjust the CG.

I submarined my FE Woodstuff twice last year. Stayed down for about five seconds and floated back up to the surface. I hit the throttle and kept on driving. Gotta love it!!!

Thanks Robin. I didnt know I had the wood working skills in me. Building the JAE broke the ice for me.

No more beating up on the RTR's in novice for John. He's gonna play with the big boys this year.... B/P-Spec Hydro and Tunnel. ;)

Yep, no choked out carbs when they submarine....Chilli will get used to that with his Seaducer FE....hey, at least I didn't say Seadunker! (oops!...I guess I just did!) :p :p :p :D

Tim, you're gonna love FE stuff! I used to run all nitro and now that stuff either sits or has been sold since I have gotten into FE....

Thanks Joe! Post some pics of your FE tunnel when you get a chance. I'm doing a tunnel as well for racing this season and would love to see yours.

BTW. I'm finishing up a FE JAE 21 and need a stand. Can you send me a PM with paypal info

Thanks,

Sean

Sean, have any pics of your builds? I would like to see. I'm converting a nitro VS1 over to FE. I am also debating about my Lightning 12 nitro or FE?

Not of the tunnel yet. I'll post some pics when I get it started. I do have a build thread for my Whiplash sport 20 here though if you are interested in doing a P-limited Sport Hydro (LSH) http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?t=9628

That boat did pretty well at the NAMBA 2010 FE Nationals.

Hey Sean, What are the other 3 P spec motors besides the 3 that are mentioned in the guide that you posted?

Thanks,

Mark
