Greetings,

Just returned from running the OS Max RG 21 OB Conversion by done by Tim Fulton at Precision Boats.

Some observations:

1. It takes a few runs to get the motor broken in.

2. The Octura X438 worked better than the X460 cut to 37 mm diameter that runs with my CMB Green Head.

3 The motor pushed my WOF 30 as fast as either the CMB Green Head and MAC 21 that had previously been run on the hull.

4. Due to the onset of windy conditions, the opportunity to test more props was lost.

Some specifics:

1. Exhaust header for PB and Silver Bullit 3.5 tune pipe with film can muffler were used.

2 Wild Cat 65% fuel with castor added for fuel.

3 LawLess lower unit on PB motor mount.

4. C/L of prop 3/16" above bottom of sponson.

5. Prop thrust angle basically neutral.

6. X438 allowed the motor to unwind. X440 might also be a good choice.

Some comments:

O.S. RG is a quality unit. Tim's machine work is excellent. Performance wise, the motor is equal to my CMB Green Head. I never really got the MAC 21 to perform, so cannot make a performace judgement on that.

Re: Lower Unit for RG OB

The bolt pattern for the PTO is for a K&B 3.5 or LawLess. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Tim couldn't build a PTO to fit the O.S. OB lower unit. But, I cannot speak for sure about that.

Got any pic's of it running JD

Tim

Hey Gene an Jeff T you got to love that V-Stack on the carb. Reminds me of the days when I was a kid at the Sat. night track races on the old sprint cars & mods. ;D

Yep, Me too, amazing how some of the same principals apply, V stack, lite flywheel, gas it and turn ;)

Gene ;D

Re: Photos of OS RG Running

I was running by myself when I tested - well, actually my dad was watching but he doesn't know how to use my camera.

Don't think I'll be able to get any running shots for some time.

JD

Come on JD...........That's easy to fix "Let DAD DRIVE" an you take the pics................ ;D

Hope all is well,

Tim

Hey JD, Are you sponsored by Futaba by any chance ;D ;)

Also, have you had a chance to test the new Hyperformance lower? i wouldnt mind purchasing one, but dont want to if it has bad reports...

Tim have you found that havng the flex run straight onto the anodized material cause any friction, or performance losses?

Oh yeah, will you be doing any 'Deals' with this motor if we were to buy one ready to go (IE converted motor, complete lower unit, pipe)???

Kris

Kris,

I have not run a Hyperperfrmance lower unit. Unless the "Lower Unit Fairy" leaves one under my pillow, I will not be trying this product.

I do have the good fortune to be sponsored by Futaba.

JD

v-stack on carb...

Never mind that! The whole thing looks awesome!

Now Tim!....

You have a REALLY good reason to update your website!

;D ;)
