There were 2 guy's bidding that high crazy!
You too, huh? I'm working on a 1/2a shrike with a .061 mig & have a shoestring stunter 1/2a c/l & a lil'satan 1/2a c/l, both with .049 cox golden bees on them. Fun little buzzers!!I actually fly 1/2A rc airplanes myself (as well as rc boats). Many (brand-new) Cox .049/.051 variants bid for over $100.00 each on eBay. I believe, at this point in time, there is no more Cox production happening. Consequently what's on the market is it. Apparently there is a vast quantity of engines, and parts, floating around. Moreover, the Canadian-owned "Cox International" stocks various new replacement parts, however very few quantities of new complete engines- if any.
I've spent over $300.00 on four (brand-new) Cox engines (Tee Dee .051's, Golden Bee .049, Black Widow .049). I can remember as a kid buying the popular, basic, Cox Baby Bee .049 for like $8.00 I believe?
Back in the 60's Macy's in NYC had a large Hobby section, bought a few Golden Bee .049,s in my day. $8.00 was a lot for a kid back then. You too, huh?
