The 3 never was called on fuel that I know of but, in their ultimate wisdom(or lack there of), some official someplace wanted to start restricting fuel to the Allison. On the surface, that seems all well and good until you look at the differences of turbine and piston engines and how they work. What must be remembered is that, unlike a turbine, restricting fuel flow to a piston engine can and will damage an engine. Even in NASCAR, when they run restrictor plates, it restricts air and fuel, keeping the intake balanced. By restricting just fuel, that balance is upset and the results would range from damaged pistons, rods and cranks to destroyed heads and blocks. In a turbine, restricting fuel decreases how much heat and, indirectly, power is generated. Unlike a piston engine, lowering the fuel won't damage the hot section of a turbine. I actually agree with the Coopers in not racing even though I would love to see that team on the water
