Yes, the boat I built for Aaron is the same boat you get from ZippKits. I just happen to like a lower profile and my motor mounts. I offen get asked what do I need to different to my Z-K.

The correct answer is nothing. Just build her stright, true, keep the bottom sharp and pay close attention to the turn fin.

Aaron, I am glad the boat is working well for you. I noticed that you ran a Nova Rossi 35 Plus and a FLASH. What was the difference between the 2? Also what prop did you run? Very few people on this planet (if any)has ever ran 83MPH with a 21 hydro on its maiden voyage. Would love to see the video of the boat.

Thanks

Kentley,

Would you care to expand on the turn fin comment you made? There are many new rigger racers coming into the fold as a result of the JAE's. We know that the turn fin is an absolute key to any boat, especially a rigger. Any help for them and others would be great.

John
Hi John,

I can tell you from alot of fin testing that driving the JAE boats is a little different. The boats turn EXTREMELY AGGRESIVE. I really had to get used to (in traffic) the closing speeds in the turns. It literally feels faster thru the turn. I have messed with many fins, shapes.locations etc. The fin that comes in the kit will be perfect. Again, I feel it's more of getting used to the turning of these boats, and what fits your driving style..Things like "expo" and servo travel on your TX,should also be paid attention to. .Hope this helps.

Ron,

I am sure it will for the guys. My personal 21 rigger experience as been with the Roadrunner and Blackjack/Diamondback (Crapshooter clones) so it wil be different for sure. How about the turn fin angle? It is critical. Reference point(s) for setup, ie., top of fin to, etc.

Did you find any flexing of the fin during testing? It is one piece and has no support bracket with it. Does it hold up well in the turns?

John

PS: Do not forget about the Fall Nats here in Charleston in October (8-10). Would love to see you join in with us.

Any of you guys that have done the testing going to answer the questions above about the turn fin? Some observations would really help out.

it holds up fine, use the fin in the kit.I put 6-32 brass inserts in the 4 dowels, rather than the wood screws. I can check the curl tonight if that's what your asking? I have moved them back and forth, front to back, not alot of change. I always put the fin to where it fits my driving stye.

Lookin' Good Aaron!
