I will start it off.....a few years ago I bought a Picco 67 engine off of Ebay from a cat calling himself Cadzilla (that should have warned me) for a friend. In the description he said that it was like new with great compression. The picture of the engine even looked good.

When I received the engine, it did have GREAT compression but after I dissambled the engine and washed the CHASSIS GREASE out of it, there was not enough compression for the engine to start.

Bought my first boat a Cal Craft off Ebay. Said it had a new K&B 7.5 in it. Thats why I bought it. got the boat and the eng was bit and pieces from a few eng. Big gouge in the P/L.

It did have a good OPS pipe in it. thats the one I traded the Zoomy for Charles.

The boat is old 666 that won 2nd place in high points in dis 3 last year.

So in the long run not so bad. But at the time I was POed.

I just got back into the hobby and bought a K&B 3.5, OB, black carb off eBay. It was listed as new, never run, never fueled. Looked good in photos. However, when I received it and I took it out of the box, the skeg fell off! I then noticed it had been epoxied on at some point and painted over with grey to match the lower unit. What's more, the throttle cable clamp was cracked and one of the water intakes was badly bent. HOWEVER.... BIG HOWEVER....

The seller said he had no idea of the issues and gave me a full refund. (Albeit, after a bit of nudging on my part, but I understand his hesitation) I'm sending the engine back right now. :)

Those are the types of sellers that make bad situations good.

With a little work, that engine could be a great display unit, or for less price and decent runner. But, not what I was looking for.

WHEN I FIRST GOT BACK INTO THE HOBBY I PURCHASED A P-80

FROM THE WEST COAST. WHEN I RECEIVED THE ENGINE HAD A WELDED CASE AND NO COMPRESSION.

I HAD RECEIVED A PIC PRIOR TO PURCHASE BUT IT DID NOT SHOW THE SIDE WITH THE WELD

Can we hear some of the Good Experiences too??? Too Much Negative Crap Makes me Sick............ I turn the 10:00 o`clock news off for the same reason..........

We need to talk I have many picco 80 round bottom & square bottom 80 cases if you need? Many cranks too.

Back in 06 I was bidding on a SGX and lost, the next day I got a email saying the high bidder backed out and I got a second chance at it. Like a newbe I jumped and bit the hook and sent the money (western union). The email looked real, fake Ebay header and all right down to my last bid, took me for a $1050.00. I learn my lesson the hard way

seriously we have to post about this. Negativity only leads to more negativity lets talk about something more productive. no offense to anyone but i have to agree with Joe W.

The horror is that I have to build my freaking boat already. I'm spending too much time on forums :) , plus 16 hours a day working and no water time yet. August needs to be over NOW so I can finally have time to build my boat. :D

Sorry guys about beating on dead horsies. You are right. We should be talking about something more constructive, like maybe lowering the db level of our boats to 80db so that we can run with the electrics.

Confused -> I thought the name of the thread was "Tell us some of your stories about getting the shaft". Silly me, I would have expected the discussion to be somewhat negative

Life is not puppy dogs and rainbows all the time. It is only negative if you look at it that way. Hence my story at the time I was POed but it all turn out good in the long run. some times you have to look beyond the present. Making lemonade out of a lemon

I'll throw a non shaft story in. Bought a Futaba 3EGX trans off e-bay for a total of $41 that's includes s/h. Had no idea if it worked. I used it to convert to 2.4 and found out this trans. works like a new one. Had to contact the seller for users manual. He mailed it same day. Sometimes good things and people do exist.

I thought the thread was about getting fired from a job. ;) I have a good one thou. Joe you do not have to hide on this. Worked as assistant manger at shoe store once ( Al Bundy was my Hero) and got Fired. Thought it was the end of the world. But I got picked up as a firefighter and never looked back. :p

My Dad told a story of two little boys, 1 had a bad attitude, 1 had a good attitude. Both were placed in separate rooms. B A boys room was filled toys and G A boy room was filled with manure. After a day they were checked on, B A boys toys were all broken and he was crying. Opened the door to G A boys room and he was smiling and digging in the manure. Ask why the smile, he said, with all this manure there has to be a pony in here someplace. :D
