Starting to gather all the go parts for my MLB 1/8 hydroplane running SSS 4092 850KV motor on 8S. Have a lead on a used Hifei Swordfish Pro 300amp esc. Was wondering if anyone out there has prior experience with this esc and would share any good or bad traits this unit has exhibited. Appreciate any info you can provide. Thank you. -Bill

Swordfish esc have been hit and miss for me, the 300 pro lite is a good controller but you need to change the pre installed water line. The other versions of the 300 not what I would recommend especially the X version. I am sure there are lots of people with good experience in these controllers.. For 8s you can't beat the Castle XLX2..

Bill,

The SF300's are hit and miss as Steven indicated. I have seen some run without issues for years in punishing setups and then others burn up the first run with mild setups. Ultimately I would steer you away from them for a Scale boat as the risk of fire is high enough to ruin you boat. Just not worth the risk. If you plan on running 8S and nothing higher, the bulletproof solution is the Castle XLX2. Yes it is pricy, but so is the time and effort of building a scale. There are other ESC's like the ETTI's and ZTW's which fair better than the SF300, but still have some risk. Just my 2 cents, but I would pass.
