Friends here are a couple of pictures of my new boat I found at hobby shop in San Antoino. I have always thought the Wing Ding is the coolest boat with some really sophisticated design features...way ahead of it's time. It is a delight to see an outrigger that doesn't look like a stick. I don't know anything about the history of my new boat, but it is an awesome model. The motor is an OPS 60, with exhaust throttle and long venture, the hardware is all original Octura. I'm still not sure if I will run it any...I would love to, but would hate to mess it up!

Stay tuned for some pictures of my new Texan .12, I am using some of the styling ideas jut for fun.

Go run it Glenn! I had a 60 Wing Ding with a Super Tigre .40 in it....set up with a Joe Bishop exhaust throttle and (long) venturi. Was fast and handled great with the .40 engine.

Nice boat Glenn. I have fond memories of seeing Jack Oxley running his Wing Dings at Legg when I was a kid. Very cool boats.

Very cool Glenn

It always amazes me just how much of the older boats we see in todays designs.

That's pretty cool GQ!!

I wish I knew how to post pictures from my phone. When I was down in SA a few weeks ago I got a photo of my dad with his old twin wing ding he built many years ago. Wing Ding are cool.

I'm one of the lucky kids of the new generation of model boaters because he was crazy enough to let me drive every once in a while!!

Buck, that sounds awesome...I didn't know they built any twin Wing Dings! What size motors? Yeah I would love to see a picture.

Look like Old Prather Piraher glass? but modded sponson bottom and really pain@ss sometime leak through in radiobox area somewhere hole Will you install NR.45 in someday :D

Glenn, there was a .60 size wing ding running in TCMBC years ago. Very good running hydro back then. Had OPS .60 engine, and used to run 62 mph on radar. I think a modern .40 size engine would be a good choice. Have fun with your new toy. Richard D

They didn't that I know of. Dad took a 60 Wing Ding split it length wise and widened it and then lengthened it. Had a pair of OPS .60's in it. It was fast! I'll try to post a pick when I get to a P.C.

That sounds neat. Do you know what ever happened to it?

Here is a few pic's of my Wing Ding 21. I built it in 1979. From what I remember, it was scaled down from the 60 boat. I bought the Kit for $15.... Talk about a box of wood.

Its Time for a vintage class!!!

He sold it to a guy in Austin in the late 80's early 90's then Alton bought it a few years later. Alton brought it to the pond last year when I was down there and he gave it back to Dad. It is in GREAT shape. It's hanging on the wall in dads shop out in Boerne. He has threatened to put a new pair of motors in it and show me how it's done!!

Tell him to get with it...I would like to see it run! Does it have the hard shafts or cables?

Yeah I was kinda thinking of putting a Nova 46 in it...looks about the right size
yeah, the dimensions of the Wing Ding 60 (in it's latter days existence) suited itself well moreso for a .45 (7.5cc) class engine, nicely balanced for heat racing in all water conditions
