I have two, very used, Sullivan starters. The start button is wearing thin now-a-days. Any good suggestions on rebuilding the starter buttons? External handles, etc..

Thanks,

Mark.

I took one apart once for the same reason. It was very hard to get back together! It would be an easier fix if you plan to use a different type of switch for the repair. Watch the spring loaded brushes when you put it back together. One of mine got caught under the armature and broke the mount that held the brush in place. Ruined the starter. :(

Good luck!

Lax,

Don't recall ever seeing a brand name on the starter.. Appeared to look like a Hobbico, but there was no name brand on it. Then again, it's somewhere between Ky and VA anyway... Thought it might arrive today, but seeing it's the 4th, doubt very much it will be there.. Maybe Saturday?

Mark....

Ob nut, i found the replacement rubber button switch at radio shack for about $2.45. i have the anodized handle on my sullivan dynatron. Prop-shop hobbies in Warren, Michigan has the model 4 boat starter on sale and in stock. This thing will start ANYTHING. Hope this helps. 8)
