Does anyone know whats available in struts, I need a couple for a twin 90 rigger, any suggestions other than speedmaster, (speedmaster is great stuff, but I want a change from that)

thanks

the Octura stainless struts are bulletproof . I had a set of Speedmasters break , actually one broke wiping out both props , rudder and the other strut . Accutech also has struts ,Rrum Racing. The only problem I noticed with the Speedmaster is the way it is milled to sharpen it on the leading edge leaving a sharp , stress rising corner at the top of the shaft bore (lower)portion of the strut . That was the second one over the course of 15 years .

Thanks Tom,

I will have a look at those other brands, here in Australia, hardware choice is small, mainly speedmaster, I've had my twin 90 sitting doing nothing waiting for a pair of struts and engine mounts, for many months now.

Shane,

I have some B&B Hardware 90 size struts that are like the CMDI struts.

Very nice quality if you need some for a twin or X-Hydro.

$30.00 each, plus $10.00 for intl shipping.

Shane,

As I told you in my e mails Mark has the struts he is very reliable, and I almost forgot he does make some of the best props you can get your hands on. Ships fast too...I believe you cant go wrong with this combination.

Octura SS skeg strut with the skeg cut off. the strut is tapered at both ends and is made like a foil.

If you bend or break this there will be no boat left.

I use the bullet nose adapter and also the end reducer and spacer to install lead Teflon bushings.

This is a smooth as it gets the more you run it the better it is.

Have had the same bushings in the strut for almost a year and are still as good as new. Also no wear on the shaft.

To lube the shaft I buy lubriplate 105 in the squeeze tube to squeeze some grease in the tube. then put my finger over the end of the tube at the eng end. As you push the shaft in it will fill the hole tube with grease. It will push out any water in the tube also as the excess will come out the back of the tube.

I made the mounts from simple aluminum angle.

This is a very stream line setup and will let the prop process more water.

Do not think there is a better solution in my opinion for what it is worth.

This is the setup and grease that was recomended to me by Andy Brown.
