hahaha Fair enough.

Finishing behind an ugly boat is darn near painful for some of us. We have a guy in our club that makes a point of leaving his boats uncleaned. Tape goo. Grease. Doesn't matter. It's staying. Like battle scars. Sometimes there's actually chunks of mud on top of his boats. He drives pretty well and his crap is fast too.
We have one of those

Chenco

We know your out there
and bring them to meeting in bits put it together and win too lol , thats clasic craig has done for as long as i can remember lol

Yes there are some lift issues with the initial plans but we never dreamed the 20 boat would be capable of 80mph. The latest 21 and 45 plans have most if not all the lift removed from the front half of the boat.
David,

So there is a newer version of the 21 plans in the works?

Ian.
Ian, Yes they are based on some of the recent testing that Martin has done. I am hoping that we can talk Joe into making the changes in the kit. We currently have 2 heat racing boats being tested that were built from the plans and of course Martin has his fleet.

Are the sponsons ONLY being changed or is the tub also? Would be easier to change the sponsons only.

David, that is good to hear, I look forward to seeing it!

It all works. I have been playing with sponsons for a long time. Like someone said.......the cg, the amount of weight on the sponsons, their width etc. all make a difference. Best to build according to instructions as these things have been worked out. Example.......I have a nice gas rigger that jumps into the middle of the course when you start the race. Some would say sponsons too narrow. Some would say prop is dull. Someone might say rudder is too short. I like the rudder short. All good answers. I elected to move the front sponsons forward one and one half inchs to take some of the weight off the sponsons and put it on the prop. Problem solved. Everyone can be right. Just different ways to fix the problems. Have fun. I like to do the experiments and see for myself. I like to have the sponsons pretty far apart from each other for heat racing and closer for record trials when I run in smoother water. I will almost always make the left sponson further from the tub to make the boat track straighter. If the sponsons get out there too far they tend to dance and make the boat more prone to being upset in rough water. Just my observation.

I find the twin 45 plans a very attractive rigger. All riggers are ugly as far as boats are concerned scales are the most beautiful hands down.

And how many riggers have you owned and raced , or currently run??
I dont have to own one too have eyes and a preference on what looks good to ME, but ive owned 2 and can own as many as I choose to buy. Irreguardless I still think all riggers are unattractive beside a scale . TS is who I was talking to TOM, about the attractiveness of riggers not about how many riggers I have.

I only need one to beat yours come on up to nc and get you some u got a better chance winning the half a billion.

Ok weve had our off topic fun pm me all race request lol. Lets let it get back on topic coz this as an informative thread with some people talkin that really know this stuff . Im here to learn new things about properly setting up an outrigger .Unless youve (whomever) set some records or actually won more races than youve competed in it might be wise to listen as well.
