It all works. I have been playing with sponsons for a long time. Like someone said.......the cg, the amount of weight on the sponsons, their width etc. all make a difference. Best to build according to instructions as these things have been worked out. Example.......I have a nice gas rigger that jumps into the middle of the course when you start the race. Some would say sponsons too narrow. Some would say prop is dull. Someone might say rudder is too short. I like the rudder short. All good answers. I elected to move the front sponsons forward one and one half inchs to take some of the weight off the sponsons and put it on the prop. Problem solved. Everyone can be right. Just different ways to fix the problems. Have fun. I like to do the experiments and see for myself. I like to have the sponsons pretty far apart from each other for heat racing and closer for record trials when I run in smoother water. I will almost always make the left sponson further from the tub to make the boat track straighter. If the sponsons get out there too far they tend to dance and make the boat more prone to being upset in rough water. Just my observation.
