Ok I want to build a twin sport 40 using bone stock k&b 21's. Is this do able? I have the engines already. Fun boat only no racing.

Suggestions on a good hull.

Any other input would be nice.

Pipe suggestions for the engines in the application.

Any other comments welcomed.

I have the mount in fact I have 2 but just wondered if there was any hull in particular that would lend its self better for such a project?

Also, since I will be only running 40% or less nitro what pipes would be best?

Prop suggestions for the engine/ nitro content here?

Will cg be something to be very conscious of?

Again any help or suggestions would really help.

Very interesting idea. Is the twin mount built for two shafts or does it convert to one (like the Hughey gear drive in the world of electric's)? If not, does anyone make one?

The hull was originally built by James Phillips of the Nashville Bouy Dodgers. MArty bought the hull from James at an Internats, I think. Anyhow, shortly after marty bought it, the IMPBA board mare a SP40 class rules revision that required single engines in the class. The hull was twin NR with twin props. It ran pretty well, but no better than most of the other competitive hulls.

The mounts are twin 21 engine mounts. They are hard mounts not the ones with the rubber isolators. However that is ok with with me as I am not concerned with the added noise of the 21's that the mounts contribute to. Have a couple of ideas on the vibration dampening too. They are anodized blue too.

So was there a sport 40 hull made for twins? Who made it and what was it called. I figured I'd need to use one of the present day hulls available. Again hull suggestions for this is appreciated, also pipes for the stock k&bs running 40% nitro or so.

never mind, just read the next one  .......................

are your mounts one piece? on a k&b .21, don't use a 2 piece mount. any mount that uses the case as a 'stressed' member can cause case cracks on k&b's. one piece mounts are MUCH better for your motors, imho. i've had good luck with the macs #1325 pipe on drum rotor k&b .21's.

Phil Thomas made the hull for James. He may still have the molds.

Jon, Actually Bobby bought the boat from James at a Masters event in Indy. The boat did get to be considerbally faster after Bobby and Marty worked on it best i rember they said that it had a fuel draw issue were the seperate tanks were in the sponsons.
