I use tape on my ski and have had no problem. Might be different if you stuff your boat or cart wheel it.
 
Small piece of tape at the start of ski and then tape the seam the long way on both sides. I will probably adapt a more permanent setup but I was unsure if I was going to keep my ski or build a JAE style, if you remember that discussion in my thread... So I taped it on to test and it works fine. If you need a picture I could text or email you one.
 
no need for a pic. might try a ski that stops at or before the transom too,.. this could give the launch benefit and also maybe settle the transom more
 
I tried moving my ski forward and it didn't like it... Try raising your strut for a better launch and experiment with that. Of course you know pipe prop and everything else comes into play!!!
 
I have tested rear side shoes with flat plane technology with no launch issues & turns on a dime at high speed + she runs flat on race water. Very stable on rough water also.

Took me a weekend to make them & bolted them on for testing. They are simple & faster to make then old style curved rear side sponsons & work GREAT!
