More to the point, pad width. What's the narrowest pad width that will still launch OK on a 3 3/4 LB's 21 rigger?

I had them a wisker wider than 1.5" and they generated way too much lift causing many blow-overs, even after dropping the AOA to under 3.0 degrees.

I really like the way the boat works everywhere on the course except the last 1/3rd of the straights where it gets too light in the fronts, so my thoughts are to keep the same sponson profile but reduce the pad width (and lift) rather than relying on downforce or slowing to keep them down. The side effect I'm concerned about is whether it will still launch OK with narrower front sponson pads.

Anyone have any info on this subject or any insight?

Thanks,

Tim

i ran as low as .750 @ 5 degrees attack angle

lol i will wait for the WHAT? HOW?

lol

No "what or how" but I am interested in how that worked.. did the sponsons tend to dip and drag? or teeter back and forth from side to side. That's what I got when I ran real narrow with high AOA..

Chris,

Have you got your sponsons wet yet this year? Are we going to see

you racing anytime soon?

Just Wondering,

Mike

Things are good here, looks like you are still getting after it.

I was going to mention that cutting the large sponson top down to more like a crapshooter style seems to get rid of that lift off at the end of the straights. Still leaves you with a little non trip outside edges.

After seeing the pics I understand now......
