Hey Doc, I’ve always been a fan of checkering and you use it on most of your boats, do you paint that or do you have custom checkering sheets made for your creations?

Everything on the boat is PPG paint.

Mark Bullard and I bought a stencil city machine. So we cut out the checker or words lay it down and spray through the stencil. Mark designs what I want on the computer and the machine cuts it.

Sounds easy, but takes some time and a lot of masking and thinking.

After every has been painted I scuff it with a scuff pad to get rid of or at least lower the ridge lines and then clear coat everything.

The scuff pad works better for me than sandpaper which sends to smear say the blue or red into the white.

I am sure professional painters have a better way, but it works for me.
