Or things are WAY faster down south. :D
They are faster down here... Hope you guys make it to the world tunnel champs next year, itll be fun!

I'd love to witness a 70+mph 6 boat heat of .21 tunnels.
No such thing... :)

Hey Larry, I would love to see a heat of 6+ 50MPH boats ;)
Its been a long time wince your last world tunnel champs, they have those pretty regularly now. Hope you make it back up!

Its all a balance - speed, handling, driver. Premo is a fine example of all 3.

From what I have seen over the past several years, at the WTC and Fall Nationals races, and at some races in FL, the fastest 21 mod boats belong to, in no specific order:

Randy Premo, John Otto, Ron Drake, Bill Britton and Jeff Whiddon. Mic and Jay are right on their heels, in particular Jay. That is the fastest group bar none. I would put this group up against any in the country or world. Shane is very close to getting in the group with a little more patience he will be there. All but Shane will be at the Fall Nationals race in October and MeTime will be streaming the broadcast. I guess I will be breaking out my Stalker radar gun to find out. Hope the water conditions are good.

And what are the hulls/engines?

If I recall correctly, several Lynx, a Vision and two HTV (own brand for Mic & Jay). NovaRossi's & RB's and possibly an OS. Get it right for me guys. And to note, all except for Shane are in FLA and most belong to the Tunnel Boat Mafia. They beat up on each other all the time and have it all well tuned before they take on the competition.

Greg, he had the pony's and hopefully they will be found again tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!

just remember everyones favourite saying ' to finish first, first you must blah blah blah ' man I hate that saying LOL

James,

Wish I could make it over there again!!! Maybe if someone can sponsor me??? LOL

I should have phrased it "I would love to see 6 + boats, at 50mph+ all finishing a heat" but it seems hard to get 40mph boats to all finish LOL

John has it partially correct. HTV does not make a .21 just .45's and Mod-VP. I am more a "B" group driver and Jay is the "A" mainer. He runs a Lynx/Drake-Nova now but has won championships including a US-1 with a Vision/OS in mod. I have a Vision/GO motor. Other notable drivers are Shawn Junker with Visions (CMB?) and Mitch Jr and Kevin lee are second to no one in top drivers "A" list with Nova Lynx's. My list for top mod .21 tunnels does not take as much speed into consideration but the best heat racers who will beat you time and time again. In no particular order it is Randy-Jay-Shawn-Mitch Jr.- Kevin(Smart Monkey)-Shane and Bob Kensil's HTB. You will need HP to compete with this group.

As for speeds here in FL low 50's in stock and many 60+ mod boats get beat by reliable 55 mph setups. Watch Randy and you will only see 60 mph when he needs it. He is starting to need it more often at Brandon.

Mic

I overlooked the long haired Tunnel Rocker and his Nemisis, just hope he comes out Charleston retirement.

Miguel,

To answer your question about a stock motor. I would say they are running between

37mph-45mph. I am running at 40mph-43mph depending on the air and water condition. This is by using my new Bushnell III radar gun and the 43mph was backed up three times.

Most of all you just want your boat to run in the speed range and handle well without blowing over or spinning out in the corners and you will win races!

Tim
Its going to be fun...thank to all for inputs

Pack up the wife, load the toys, and FLORIDA as your destination, we'll give you all the 50+ .21 tunnels you can handle. By the way, I am talking stock. Kris, you've seen it first hand. '07 walterboro Drake and myself were 60+ at the end of the straight in hot lap competition in Mod, and the game has gained a couplea mph's since. And look under the cav plate, thats where you find gain. Mic put it best, you wont see it unless its needed, he saw it at the '11 WTC, he was out front. PATIENCE.But we race each other for years, gaining the knowledge of the other racers, tendencies, and how not to put yourself in a bad place. I'm just the driver, my spotter wins me races.
