I know it sounds funny to even asked especially since I've always laughed at those corny TV ads that shout: "But wait that's still not all" or "For the low low price of $19.99"

I gotta admit I got suckered in to the latest TV commercial bragging about an amazing soldering gun that works on "COLD HEAT" which heats up to 800 degrees when it touches metal and cools within seconds. Looked simple enough for rc car/boat wires, the price is right $19.99 plus it comes with other "FREE" stuff.......LOL.

I'm tempted to try it.......anyone have some input????

Yup...it was Barnum who said it........only difference is it's a so called "100% guaranteed like it or your money back".......My buddy buys EVERYTHING he see's on TV and usually returns about 75% of the stuff. Now I just gotta persuade him to buy this......hardest part is to figure out what he'll need to solder.

The gun is battery operated.

I saw it on TV too and have been half tempted to buy one. I have a 12 volt soldering gun that works like crap but I have a 110 volt converter in my truck that will run my regular soldering gun. It was that or one of those butane ones.

Is 800 degrees hot enough? I seem to remember 1300 degrees being the temperatuer of a good iron...

haha, I saw the commercial last nite. looks like it may come in handy in a bind for small jobs. don't plan on doing battery packs though :D

i have a butane iron that works great, highly recommended for field repairs. I keep it in the tool box. fwiw

This is the one I like-
