I'm not so sure about that, Andy. Wife and I went to Disney World for the holidays a few years back and, starting at Sunset, it got DAMN COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were even cold with heavy jackets and gloves so it wasn't that we weren't prepared for it either
If I said , its a different cold , I would hear all the haters calling me the cold wimp that I am -but it is

Hell if it gets under 50 , Im looking for long johns-lol

After living in south, central & north Florida for 47 years, moving down there from Rochester, NY & now in northern Va for 15 years - IT IS a different cold. I can be more comfortable up here in the teens & 20's than I could in Fl. at 40° or 50°. I firmly believe it's the humidity that makes the higher temps more uncomfortable. When it gets cold up here, the humidity drops way down - usually 20% range. The most uncomfortable cold I can remember was in Sanford, Fl. I was attending school at the Sanford Naval Academy, which was situated right on Lake Monroe. The eastern winds would have the moisture from the Atlantic, then pick up more crossing the lake. Absolutely the worst chillya to the bone cold at 30+ degrees, I've been more comfortable up here in a tree stand in single digit temps.

But, yes Drew, you are a cold wimp!!

You can say the same thing about heat as you can about the cold, there are different kinds. I know that when I was crossing the plains states last summer, it felt cooler at higher temperatures than it did in the midwest and the humidity may have been a big part of it. Heck, even here in Washington State, when the temperatures start to climb, it feels warmer on the west side than it does on the east, even though the east side is actually warmer

I agree Mark, exactly why I moved up here. The older I got, the worse the heat/humidity in Fla. ate my lunch! It still gets hot & humid here, but really only from July 4th til Labor Day. I can handle 6 weeks to 2 months, not 8-9 months like Fla.! Go watch fireworks on the 4th & it's like 70° when the sun goes down-hell ya!!

Brad, they cancelled a Capitals in DC, not too far from me. Same thought crossed my mind, you cancel a game played on ice - due to snow? I'm not saying it wasn't the right thing to do, but yeah!

Yeeep. The closer I get to 50 ( this year ) the more I realize I only have so many summers working in the heat down here like I do - Last year was brutal to say it lightly in all the years I have worked outside here. Sigh - Give me ten years and I will be hanging with the hippie in a tree stand , lmao
