One of my old dear friends passed away today while walking his dog. Eric Swensen had a massive heart attack. Eric called me last night to sign up for the nitro race coming up in a couple weeks. He has been inactive and was looking forward to racing a lot in the coming years. He had been asked to drive Stan Simpson, Jr's 67 hydro at this race and was "giddy" about that. Eric was 62 years old, much to young to leave us.

I/We will miss Eric.

Condolences to his family.

.....I am so sorry for the loss to the Swenson family. Eric was excited to come back and run a 67 Rig I had built for him to race at the Nitro Race. Feeling VERY SAD for a friend I lost and was getting back together again with.

That really sucks!!! It always does. I first met Eric in 1988 and raced for yrs and even raced our vans home. Lol

I had talked with him over the last few yrs and offered for us to get out and run and it just didnt happen.

Sad...

I was just talking with John Otto yesterday about Eric's return to the hobby which I was looking forward too very much! Eric was a great friend and all around great guy to hang out with I am saddened beyond words! God Speed my Friend!

Learned of his passing earlier today by a good friend Ramon Rodriguez, so sorry to hear. Have always admired him as one of the greats from back in the day, he will truly be missed.

May God comfort and give peace to his family.

Eric and his father Bud were great racers and high quality gentlemen.

We met Eric and Bud in the early 80's and were in awe of the quality and performance of their boats.

Eric was a US-1 Champion in the mid 1980's. Eric's driving skills were second to none.

Around 1989 Eric began racing our Mongoose riggers.

After a long break Eric began coming out to the races with plans to start racing again.

His good friend Raymond was building a new 45 rigger for him. We are in the process of painting a new .67/.80 SGX

for Eric and I think Stan has been working on a new JAE for Eric.

Eric was preparing to come back racing full force and we were all looking forward to boating with him again.

Eric will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.

When I started running rc boats competitively in 1980 Bud and Eric were the guys to beat. We were members of the Fort Lauderdale club. They raced crapshooters and dominated the races they attended.I felt embarrassed to put my 21 ops gator up against there RV K&B 21. They always had 10-15mph on the field. I think they came from the Indy club and had connections with the Marty Davis/Ackerman crowd.Bud was always willing to help

and Eric did his contributions to rc boat racing on the water. I saw Eric last year at a palm beach race and he seamed to be in good spirts. Bud and Eric were true champions and is a big loss to the rc boating community. He will be missed. Dan Mccormick NAMBA 221

Looking forward to racing my NEW 67 Rigger at the Brandon race. She is looking good,Eric never had the chance to drive her. I still can not believe what happened. We talked several times a day month's leading up till his passing. So sad to lose a true friend to me...
