I lost radio and came full speed to the shore and hit the main leg of the steel tables . The weird thing is that Henry Velsco's boat did the exact same thing 15 minutes later. I already talked to Mike (Grimracer) about the incident.

Henry's crash
That’s crazy…. I’ve seen several boats hit the bank at full tilt, with various degrees of damage, but wow… that is some total destruction..

Sorry for Henry’s and your loss. 15 minutes apart,,, very suspicious circumstances..😖😖

I’m not a big fan of 2.4 gig radios, never have been.
When I switched from FM to 2.4, the first time out, I lost radio.. thankfully the boat just did donuts until it swamped itself and stayed away from shore..

the radio had been range checked,, had brand new lipo’s, new switch, antenna rules were adhered to… best I could tell it was a bad receiver, ( it now resides at the bottom of the lake) I stuck in a new receiver and it has seemed to be fine after that.. I just don’t trust them like I did my old PCM Magnum's..

I have too many boats. Not running at present time. But here are a few pictures.

BTW, The Dumas Hotshot has been sold, was my first one. The Bandit_Killer crashed and someone on Vancouvewr Island has it now. The Graupner -Valvoline Bosch, run it once and sold it. The yellow TS2 is also sold long time ago.
The Nemesis is build by Gabe Clegg.

Boaters,

I bet the reason is mismatched battery power without a regulator.
Older servos and receivers are not always rated to be able to run
with higher battery voltages.

Just A Thought,

Mark

When we spoke we talked in depth about install.. BUT.. none of this explained two different band systems having the same issue, on the same place on the course, 15 min apart. the boats literally crashed the VERY same way 15 min apart.

One more thing worth noting.. the boats were not NEW.. they had and had been running and racing at different locations too.

The men owning and operating the boats are not NEW to the hobby or 2.4...

SOOOOO ODDD. that they experienced the same issue.

View attachment 33451020250128_142116.jpg20250128_141336.jpg3 of my boats. First is scratch built US PBR boat. Picked up a fiberglass rc cabin cruiser from the local classifieds, built the tamiya 1/35 scale kit. Not scale an approximation.Used the tamiya kit as reference. Power is homelite 30cc weed trimmer engine. 50 " X 16", 27lbs. Second boat is first boat i built Prather deep vee 60, built in 1990, decal scheme was from Aeromarine laminates power is OS Max .77 vrm. Third boat is my first attempt at scratchbuilding, its a Fred Reese design, Schiada, powered by k&b 3.5cc outboard. Finished building last year. Remembered seeing it in Radio Control Modeler back in the day. Before i get any of these boats in the water i need to acquire some type of retrieval boat. Running on an enclosed pond. Any ideas would be appreciated. Would the Zippkits tugster or twin tugster with a cradle be powerfull enough to retrieve the 27 lb. Boat ?
