i need the setup sheets for the first version .21 eagle rigger. the one with the flat front cowl. if anyone can hook me up with a copy, that would great. thanx in advance.

Robin,

If it is the boat that I am thinking of, it did not have any coming to me. It is the pre Eagle SG hull and Andy designed it while he was still at Tidewater. Unless Andy has some or someone else has some hidden away, I do not know where they can be found.

yes, john, it's the boat you're thinking of. your description will help people to know what hull i need setup info for. thanx for posting. i'm hoping someone has a set stashed they can copy for me. i'll pick your brain more at the tunnel champs - now that i know you ran it ;) .

What data do you need? I just pulled mine down off of the shelf a couple of weeks ago. Haven't run it in years. Pulled my MAC 21 out of it 6 or so years ago and put it on the shelf. That boat was very, very fast! But my Eagle SG was more stable. I am currently getting it ready to be used as a test boat with a Nova Rossi 21 engine that I want to experiment with.

a copy of the actual setup sheet(s)/instructions would be the ideal thing. that, or if you don't have them, what worked best for you. prop, strut height, cg, sponson offset & distance from tub, sponson aoa, etc. my sponson tubes have a series of holes on both sides, & the boat was shipped with sponsons removed, so i have no idea where to start them at. any info you can share would be great, david.

Robin,

Give me a couple of days to get the measurements for you. I can tell you that the one of the props that ran the best was a Andy Brown S&B modified 1450.

One other thing, if you know anybody that has an extra cowl for it, I would be glad to take it off of their hands. Mine is so cut up from running two different engines (a MAC .21 and the Nova Rossi .21).

I'll also try to take some pictures this weekend if I have time. It is going to be a busy one for me.

Thanks,

David

Robin,

Here is some quick measurements from my Eagle hull.

Right Sponson : 2 and 7/8th inches

Left Sponson : 3 and 3/8th inches

Sponson Toe-in : 1/32nd of an inch

Bottom of front sponson's to bottom of hull is 3/8th's of an inch.

Strut/Prop Shaft Center Line : 5/16th's to 3/8th's of an inch below bottom of hull. This depends on the prop.

Rudder Blade is approximately 5/8th's of an inch below lowest tip of Prop blade.

Other note: The left sponson tip is set lower than the right so the boat will track straight with no rudder input.

Hope this helps,

David

yes it does, thanx for taking the time to measure it & post the info. david :) . prop shaft measurement is from the tub/hull & not rear sponsons, correct? anyone else? i'd really like the original setup sheets. due to differing driving styles & engines, not all setups will work the same for everyone. i trust your info, david B) , just looking for the baseline, according to the builder. i can't help on the cowl, only have the one that came with the boat. kinda looks like the part you might trim off the back of an ABS tunnel cowl (hint, hint)..............

Robin,

Yes, that is correct, the measurement is from the bottom of the hull to the center line of the prop shaft. I ran my Eagle without rear sponsons.

David

only 2 folks on this whole forum ran an original eagle???????? someone out there has to have the setup info (i hope).

i think so, ray. gotta remember riggers are new to me  . they attach to the side, but stick out both to the side & below the tub.

no, ray, the rear shoes/sponsons are attached to the side of the tub, not the bottom. no little wings up top. the sponsons project below the tub & out to the side. shape is similar to your drawing, just mounted to the side & mounted higher. measured at the rear, they are 15/16" tall overall with 9/16" below the tub. 9/16" wide at the bottom at the rear. 15/16" wide at the widest/rearmost point. viewing them from the rear, they look very similar to a tunnel hull sponson. the top tapers down to the outer edge, the side tapers in to the bottom. bottom & inner sides are horizontal & vertical - 90 degrees to each other. in your drawing, if you drew a line from the top inner corner to where the taper starts on the outer side, thats what mine look like.

Set the C/L of the drive shaft at 9/16. On flat setup board set front sponson tips at 1-1/4", run strut at 0* ie flat to setup board. B) B)
