Would the Hitec HS-7955TG Titanium Servo do the job of steering a 3.5 outboard, or would I need to look at a larger scale servo.

Specs at 6v

Speed - 0.15

Output Torque - 24 Kg cm (333 oz in)

Size - 40x20x37 mm

Cheers

Those work good that's what I use ,but people are going to say it overkill.

I went to the budget hitec 645mg and they have been faultless...... you will be bulletproof with titanium I would imagine ;) nothing worse than pulling servos out so you might as well do it right the first time...

Cheers guys, I have had these servos sitting on my bench looking for a new home for a while now, looks like I found one.

Way back we started using Futaba S-29's at about 60oz of torque on 3.5's and they did fine. Paired them for .45's. Over 100oz will steer a 3.5 tunnel and I have .45's I use a single 645mg or 3305 Futaba without issues. I do prefer larger scale servos for obvious stronger larger gears and over 200oz. torque insures handling. If you want digital and they are in your budget go for it. Nothing wrong with overkill.

7955 on all my F/E, 645 MG on 20 tunnels, 2 645MG or 2 755MG depending on space in radio box for 7.5 tunnel maybe over kill but good solid steering.  ;)
