Dose anybody know how the strut and rudder was intended to be installed on the SD1? was the original set up just like the SD3. I did get an email back from Jerry at seducer boats and told me why the hull is chine walking, but before I take up anymore of his time on email I thought I would see what you all have to say about this subject. after what Jerry told me, I will be raising the hardware 3/4 of an inch higher on the hull. would that be sufficient, or would it be worth the money to set this hull up like suggested on the SD3? I bought this boat in 1992 with the old school hardware set as it is in the pics attached. I do know that this hull is made for subsurface drive so I will be sticking with that. Oh ya the boat spins out coming out of corners. I do believe its due to prop walk, but have not fully determined that. I really like this boat, and would like to improve on its performance. let me know what you think. thanks

Jim

Hardware is all wrong, thats got to be the first place you start.

Then it needs to properly placed- then the strut can be properly positioned. Jerrys hardware and placement is the only way to go-

Just my .02 btw, the last pics of the transom doesnt have an exhaust exit- where does it go ?

Andy, the exhaust dos not come out of transom. that was from a different motor and pipe that didn't work to well. exhaust is a 180 novarossi header with a mac pipe. it just angles up a hair above transom. Thanks a million Andy

my buddy had an old ducer that was converted from sub to surface drive, jerry told him not to do it . the boat ran pretty well after the change. just a thought

My son ran one for years. It was setup via surface drive and the rudder was offset 2.5 inches to the right of the strut. Did not use any turn fins or trim tabs. Boat was very fast and won several races here in he midwest. Sorry, I don't have a transom photo.

I bought it with trim tabs on it, it wasn't performing to well. I took them off after running it at first race in 1992. Lucky for me the bottom of the boat is virgin and untouched Andy. Jerry told me this hull is faster with subsurface drive. seems like the stuffing tube would slow it down, but I will tell you that other than the corners it seems to be faster in the straight away than some of the SD3s I ran against. it is fast, even with the wrong hardware set up. can't wait to see how it dose with the right stuff on it. I will be priming, sanding, and painting the transom before new hardware. those hole have to go after 20years of looking at them. ha ha. Buddy your sons boat looks like it held up well over the years. Jerry sets the rudder At 1 and 3/4 inch off strut on the SD3. did you go with 2.5" off strut because of the deeper vee on the SD1? Thanks for all the input guys. Its greatly appreciated. Oh What is an Orical spec NovaRossi? Where would you get Orical spec Nova, I didn't see one on the NovaRossi Site.

Hey Anthony, I have your old motor. Remember? I bought it off Phil this past July. you where Right it was never run. I bought it for this very boat. have not put it in yet. it will replace the motor that is in it if it ever blows. since then I found that the parts for the new O.S. outboard ( p and s, and Connecting rod) May fit the old RZM. Great motor! They really run well.

oh yeah,.. Forgot all about that.. that is a good motor.. If I had needed it I would have kept it.. That was really fun boat when I had one... long time ago.. I think I had a K&B in it..

When I bought this boat it had a stock K&B in it. It didn't have enough power or rpms. I am replacing the K&B 67 in my 36" Sprint Cat with a CMB 67 Green head. Nitro has come a long way since those K&B motors.

I placed the rudder at 2.5 inches because that's where a fellow club member told me to put it. That was the first mono I ever set up and my son bought it new from another club member for 50 bucks. I made a deal with him, If he bought the boat I'll get the rest. So that 50 dollar boat cost me $500 for all the hardware, motor and pipe. He had a blast with it but the number of 20 mono's dropped and he quit racing it then sold the boat .

Those boats were subsurface,I had one. But have seen Buddys haul the mail

offset rudder for sure. Inline rudders setups are far to sensitive with prop thrust directed at them.

Thanks for Sharing Buddy. Looks like jerry will be selling some me some hardware before spring. thanks for all the help everyone.
