Hey All,

Say I was to modify my OS lower unit for the K&B bolt pattern. (machine off the original OS mounting plate)

If I then decided to bolt an OS bolt pattern plate back onto the unit to run my OS in SPORT or STOCK 3.5, would it be leagal? If not, then why?

Cheers

Kris

Kris,

No, It must be stock ON THE OUTSIDE for IMPBA. You have modified it, when you mill the upper plate off, unless you can mount a stock pltae back on it and it can not be seen. A new bar stock plate will not pass. This is just my take on the rule book and I have read it many times.

Cheers,

TB

not legal, you can remove metal from the lower, but you cannot add anything to it, according to the rule book.

Just to follow up with what everyone else said, see letter G below, that should clarify it for you.

4. The following exceptions will be allowed in the Sport Outboard Tunnel

specifications.

a. Adhesives (loctite), set screws and jam nuts.

b. Any carb linkage arms.

c. Any motor mount.

d. Any glow plug, fuel brand and mixture.

e. Any type steering arm.

f. Any flywheel nut.

g. The lower unit below the cavitation plate may be trimmed, sharpened

or polished. No material shall be added to the lower unit.

h. Adjustable mixture controls will be allowed, however the original

needle valve must remain in its original position.

What about using after market prop shafts?

Thanks Guys...I just thought I would check out my options.

That is a very interesting point James regarding NON OEM prop shafts! More so for people running K&B with a different bushing...

Cheers
