I just found out that Dick Jones had a heart attack middle of last week and has been in the hospital since awaiting triple bypass surgery. I had a batch of Cooper pipes on order that should have been here & I sent an e-mail asking the status, his oldest daughter Mandy replied telling me what happened. She said she is talking care of things while Dick is hospitalized & pipe orders are just a bit behind. Folks please keep Dick in your thoughts & prayers for a quick & speedy recovery.

Dick should be fine. He must have smart enough to know what was going on and didn't ignore the warning signals.

I had my quad bypass done just 13 months ago. It's rough but it's amazing that progress that has been made in just the past 10 years in heart medicine. His new best friend will be a pillow. They gave me a small one that was with me constantly. If he has to cough, he'll really be squeezing that thing.

I met Dick at a race in Dayton several years ago. Seemed like a very nice person, gave me some helpful tips. Prayers from Ohio for a complete recovery and for the family to maintain strength. My dad went through this over 10 years ago and still doing well.

I work at a hospital and was wondering why some patients held pillows on their chest while being wheeled around. Now I know. Get well soon Dick and remember you can not chug nitromethane in place of nitro pills. They are different. Jim

When I started racing at the rightfull old age of 9, Dick Jones was there. I was annoying and irritating for sure, asking questions to everyone about everything. Dick always made time for me, everytime. He would always get the youngsters and our parents in a group for his famous "Simon Sez". His racing was only topped by his charisma. Ive been seeing less of Dick in the last few years, and I wish he was around more. Its really sad to me that I dont realize how important some people are until something like this happens. Dick, your a great competitor, a great person, and most of all, a great friend. When I was 9 I would call you Mr. Jones for a reason, cause I looked up to you. Get well soon Dick, we all enjoy you and your 30 pound Flower box F mono at the pond.

I met Dick as a first time racer, in D4, too.... Same as Larry, I was annoying, and a trying study for sure.... He took time out and helped me with advice, and race strategy, that I still use today...... He's a pretty cool cat...... Well wishes to him, and his family, we'll be pulling for you.... I first met Dick when I pitted for him at the NAMBA Nats (96 I think?). Lovely fellow... Caught up with him again at Jackson IMPBA Nats in 2004 (when Team Oz visited). Still a great person. I wish him a speedy recovery.... get back out there soon Fella!!
