Hi, I am wondering if any one here has done it.

I have had this boat for about 15 years and never run it because I needed a motor.

So now I am ready to get one but am thinking about putting a 7.5 on the 3.5 hull.

I am a speed freak like everyone else.

I am thinking I will need a fair bit of weight to balance it but hey a 7.5 is twice the power.

Any other tips for a newbie? thanks.

I think you will be just as happy with one of the new 3.5 motors. They will

have plenty of SPEED for you. If you go with the 7.5, I think you will be

scratching more than my dog does.

Thanks,

Go with the 3.5. Nothing good can come from the 7.5. If speed is what you want, all you need to do is make it a mod motor.

:D More to the point of your question. You betcha and what a riot it was !!

@ 15 years ago i aquired a dumas sprint 21 wood hull that was never run and went about putting it together as a hot rod with a K&B 7.5 outboard on it.

Reset engine mount transom @ 1 1/2" forward to move CG and thrust point forward on transom and then set up per instructions and added a Big steering servo.

I played with this boat for @ 3 years and went as far as doing mods to engine and run a "Aussie" magic muffer shorty tuned pipe.

Never radared it back then and only played around but this I will say: It ran side by side to a Aeromarine Popeyes Cat with a Roosi 90 in it !! a buddy had.

STRICTLY a smooth water boat and at speed so much as a ripple on smooth water and it would kite !! even with small canard wings between center tub and sponson tips !

I have some footage of it on a VHS tape someplace??

:D Scott

Thanks for the tips.

I am kinda thinking if it is too much power then I can get a bigger boat but if the 3.5 isn't fast enogh for me I dont want to get a new boat AND motor.
