I would like some suggestions on a good RTR boat for my 8 yr Daughter.I am in south Florida Distric 3. and would like a boat to be competitive with her age group.

Thanks.

There are both the super vee and Miss Vegas my wife is running the super vee it is a very forgiving boat and with the rough water we get i think it is a better boat to learn on this is her first year racing and she trophys all the time with that boat, i found was a great boat to buy for her she is having a great time with it.There is really no age group for RTR mainly learning class.

I agree 100% I have both and have raced both. The supervee is alot easier especially in a bind she can crank a left turn if needed. The supervee also stays on plane easier to allow her to just turn up the idle and just cruise around the lake so she can learn the course or in case of rough water the boat wont be too much to handle. If you need help with the setup I will be more than happy to help. I try to lend a hand to anyone especially to rtr racers at our events.

I geuss a supervee would be a great start. She has never ran a boat b4.

She watched me while i was building my gas sgx and she really wanted to drive it.But i told her she needs to start out with something that was a little easyer for a beginer to drive.Plus if I did let her drive my rigger and she drove better then I.It would be pretty funny.LOL

I was getting ready to ask the same basic question for my 8& 10 year old grandaughters... especially regarding the SV-27 nitro....looks like Robert and Curtis pretty much answered my question also! Im very close to giving Tower Hobbies a call! :)

One suggestion. call aeromarine and order a 5mm to 3/16 collet and upgrade to a 3/16 shaft. All you have to do is remove the teflon in the stuffing box tube and change the collet. The stock shaft breaks very easily.

Curtis, what would be a good prop to start with...with the stock set up..engine, etc? Thanks, Bill

Hey Bill - whats up buddy

Octura makes a y536 that would fit the 3/16 shaft for starters

once the motor gets broke in you could run 437/ 3blade and even turn a 440 running 40% nitro -

Curtis knows these boats pretty good - he will definately help you guys out, me too

And I know you know a trick or two

Jeremy - Get a vegas!!!

On the Super Vee i took out the teflon as you guys see it runs very well you are not able on that boat to run a 3/16 shaft the way it is made, if you want a better shaft for it same size go to offshore electrics

Hey man! I really wanted to make it over to you and Roberts side of the state, but like i told Robert..time and money! Thanks for the prop suggestions..im about to order a boat for my grandaughters to see if they might want to give it a try...gotta get some more folks in this class...we do have at least 2 more on this side of the state that are racin....and theyre boats are FAST! I gotta get over to Melbourne one of these days to race with you guys and gals! Take care, Bill

Sorry about the delayed response. I good prop to run on that boat i the grimracer 40/52 3 blade. Robert to run the 3/16 shaft all you have to do is change the collet and remove the teflon tubing which is in the copper tubing in two or three sections so make sure you get all the pieces out. I have done three and they all are the same. The stock shaft is .150 to 3/16 which is the reason you can run a 440 prop.

bill,,, ive based my mod aqua's out of a sv,,, best consistent speeds ive seen is 41-42mph every pass on a x640 the x440/3 will blow the boat over backwards almost everytime... that prop has shown me 46mph on the gun but like i said it blows over almost every time at those speeds... im gonna say hands down the best all around prop for the sv is the x437/3.. will run the boat to 38mph or more and has killer lower end response to the point you can slow right down and it will come to life quick like.. the boats are stable at that speed...

i dont want to turn you away from the sv,,,as i think it is one of the best rtr's ive ever owned,, but keep in mind the boat naturally likes to turn left better than right... the rudder blows a hole in the water entering the prop,, this causes cavitation and you will hear it rev... lay it over left and you can hold that thing wide open till the cows come home.. killer boat none the less....

p.m me if you would like

alden :)

sorry jeremy didnt mean to hijack your thread....

ill say sv or vegas.. might even want to go electric for the first boat.. the sv electric version goes really well...

alden :D

Bill one more race your side of state this year in Brandon that is the last district race in Nov. none in Dec.

No problem Bill Your Info is good.I think eletric would be better for her first boat as well just plug in and go.But im not sure if there are other kids her aged running eletric boats in races.

Jeremy noone in district 3 for races runs electric in the RTR they are running super vee 27 and the miss vegas super vee is your best bet for them to learn it is a very forgiving boat to learn on i think you would be disapointed buying electric and finding out they couldnt race it.

Thats good to know.

My daughter told me she had a test on monday in her math class and i said if she were to get a B or higher i would order her the boat. She has been studying like crazy. Im still going to buy the boat regardless of her grade.
