Whats the best way to mount a receiver in a radio box; velcro, 2 sided tape, wrap on foam and secure the foam or ???

I'm going velcro... as soon as somebody tell's me what brand will stick really well to the receiver. Someone posted that info. not too long ago...?

I noticed Home Depot had some 1" wide 3" long strips of 3M clear mounting tape with hooks on one side and adhesive tape on the other side that when fastened on each surface using the adhesive, you just press the mating hook sides together, similar to velcro.

We've been liking this stuff, available at Home Depot, Lowe's, Menard's, Ace Hardware, etc. and attaching Rx to underside of r/box cover.

We're going to try it for throttle and mixture servos w/ simple mechanical screw setup for redundancy.

What's nice about this product is that it isolates from vibration and it's waterproof.

Not expensive.

If i have room (most of the time I do) I like to wrap the RX in 1/4in foam rubber and then Vet Wrap to hold it all together. In some cases I will place the RX on the block of Pink foam before the vet wrap if i want to raise the unit in the boat. Some times i only have room for Vet wrap.

I have also Velcro'ed goods into the boat BUT.. not to the lid personally as I want the inner antenna as far up as I can.

If it works for ya however.. do it!

I grew up with my parents owning horses, vet wrap is like a mildly sticky ace bandage. Stretch it, wrap it & it sticks to itself, won't unwrap. Comes in assorted widths & colors too.

I remember when 2.4 first came out it was stated not to wrap receiver in foam rubber. Has something changed that it is now okay to wrap it? I never wrapped them, just velcroed to the bottom of the box. I used Scotch brand velcro and it was very good.

Some receivers had problem with heat dont think latest rec have that problem

Velcro right to the underside of the lid. That way all of the antenna is up the tube and no delicate coax around any of the mechanics nor do you have to mess with the antenna and tube because it stays up in the tube when you have the box open. Allows the receiver to be up and out of any water that could have found its way in the box and when open it is up and out of the box so it can dry thoroughly.

Yep.. Phil is right.. WAY BACK WHEN.. when Futaba first offered the FASST systems SOME of the RXs with the BLUE label had issues with heat. They identified it quite quick and it was fixed.. Hence the Orange FASST labels.

In all my testing and running.. I never had heat issues with the blue labels. Even in the VERY high heat of SunsetLake.

I’ve had very good luck securing my receiver with 3mm thick Kyosho Brand “Zeal.” It’s a double sided sticky gel meant to mount rc electronics and also protect them from vibration. Marketed for Rc helicopter gyros, mini cameras on drones/rc vehicles to stop shaky images, and obviously to mount and protect Rc receivers. Best way to describe product is a softer thicker type of clear double sided sticky tape. Learned about it from nitro off-road rc car racers they put it under their fuel tanks to counteract foamy fuel. Just a suggestion thats worked well for me.

Brian, looks interesting. Once you've sticked it on the lid and receiver can you still remove the receiver when needed?

Is the receiver upside down I did this on my scratch built rigger 304sb and hasn’t had a issue is this right or wrong?
