I am running a Midwest Missile gas rigger and right now I am using a V967/3 prop. The rigger is running nice but it seems to slow in the straights. I think the RPMS could be much higher. I was thinking about moving to a two blade prop but I am not sure which one. I tried a 2170 but it was way too much prop for my engine. Any recommendations on a two blade that works would be great.

What engine and pipe are you running?? Stock..moded? If you are going to a 2 blade prop, maybe try and 7016/2 or a 6717/2. The V967/3 is a excellant prop for hydro's with a STOCK motor!

Alot of guys I know running gas riggers are useing the 6717/3! More info on motor and setup might help

Mike

My favorite rigger prop for heat racing is a 2718

3018 is faster but gets too loose in the rough.

Mike G, are those 2 blade props? I know I have been told by Shoboat that a 2 blade is the way to go so I would like to try a 2 blade.

Mike M, its a full mod G260 but it doesn't seem to pull a 967/3 as well as it could. I have a 7016/2 but its not enough prop for the rigger. I lost my 6717/3 before I built my rigger so I never got to try it. I am thinking about ordering a 6717/3 to try on my PI hydro and my rigger.

A FULL mod 260 should pull a 967/3 any day of the week!!! Actuall guys running sport hydro's with stock 260's use that prop.

The 6717/3 prop just about works on any hull. I use it on my Insane hydro, and mono! A club member with a Cajun Bullet rigger also uses the 6717/3 on his boat and it runs okay. But I think you will like that prop also on your PI hydro!!

Check out this website.....http://hometown.aol.com/propworks34/pwprice.html

E-mail Bob and tell him what hull and motor you have, and he will tell you what prop is right for what you have. You wont be dissapointed with his props! :D

Both are 2 blades. They need a back cut but it is pretty easy to mod. Jim at ABC can tell you how.

The 2716 with backcut is great prop for the Hydro's. The same cut on a 2718 for the Rigger.

A stock V967/3 is not nearly enough for a mod 260. Should need cup to about 6.8".

I like the 2170 cut to 67 mm and some cup on the rigger. Also the 2167/3 with about 6.5" is a great heat racing prop.

Good racing,

Andy

Andy, that is weird because it seems like the RPM's are pretty low like I am not spinning the prop like it should. I don't have a tach to know for sure but it sounds low to me.

Don, I tried the pipe long and short. Seems to run good at 12" from center of the exhaust to the middle of the 2" band. That is measuring straight back.

Mine measures 11 1/2" straight back from center of exhaust port to middle of 2" band with a 100 degree header. With a Butch the Boatman G260 it will pull cupped up 6719/3 with no problem. How much time on your motor?

Ray, You did not say if the V967/3 is stock or not.

Two-strokes won't automatically rev high just because the prop is small. In fact, if a two-stroke engine is under loaded (under proped) it will normally turn less revs than when loaded with the correct larger prop. I know it seems strange, but it's true.

V967/3 cup 6.5 and 2170(67mm)cup 6.9 is what is pushing our SGXrigger with a MD G26 with no problems

Sounds you might have something wrong in your boat.Check sponsons aligment, pipe lenght, strut position.......aV967/3 stock can't be a problem for your engine.

My riggers don't like a stock V967/3 ether. No speed and poor handling. I have been told they work great modded though, I have a modded one as well but have not tested it yet. 2718 back cut is so smooth and perdictable it is hard to justify changing. 68 mph running straight at the radar gun in heat race trim.  calm water!

Andy his V967 is stock just sharpened and balanced.

Yep, not nearly enough prop. This will not load the engine enough to burn all of the fuel that goes into the cylinder.....meaning low rpm.

Very good info Andy. I have a new sharp V967/3 here that can use a nice pitch up job. Email or PM me a price to mod this one for me.

I don't have a gass boat but would like to know about the V967/3 on MAC.84 motors?
Better yet on a twin SGX .84 twin? :)

Sorry for the Hijack. :(

Hey Buck-

V967/3's on a twin....way too hairy to drive, very unpredictable in the corners. Go with a pair of cut & cupped 1667's. B)
