Starting to mock up the SK boat I just recieved. Trying to build a scale model of my 1976 Terry Frahs flatbottom drag boat.
Working on the rail locations for the v drive and electric motor.20210121_142238.jpg20210121_142235.jpg20210121_142238.jpg

When I put the rails in mine, I'm going to put a thin plywood doubler on the floor first. Just like the full size boats are done. Not sure how you're planning on securing the rails in yours. My will be glassed in with fillet layup. Doing that over the fiberglass floor will transfer to the outside when it cures. Plywood over the floor will prevent the transfer.

Putting plywood on the floor will also serve to straighten the keel as it has a slight hook in it or concave looking bow to transom.

That's a good idea , my plan was to lay heavy FG cloth in the floor, but plywood would help I already added plywood to the transom.
Thanks for the advise
Greg

Scrub the bottom of the pan with a sanding block with course grit, lay a cloth and wet it out, wet the bottom of the plywood and weight it - probably one side at a time on a flat surface. The bottom has about 1/4" of rocker from transom to the dash area.

I'll probably put some SIG sheet foam under it for the contour on a flat surface when laying the ply. Maybe a temporary stringer up the keel to push it back into place - once the floor ply cures it will retain shape.

Post plenty of pics, looks great. I'll do the same when I get started on mine. Thinking of going twin electric and rudderless for tug duty.

It may take a couple of slits in the floor ply to get it to lay flat.
