after two hours of extreme frustration, my bro and i were able to get in an awesome afternoon at the pond....one quart of fuel and not a single crash or anything like one.
prop was a p215 the whole time, not sure what length the pipe was set at. the first run [only about 2 minutes] it was 3 1/2 turns out, it just kind of chugged around the pond, not getting up at all. [NOTE: we basically kept the throttle maxxed out, so all "ride attitude" comments are on full throttle] it went back out for another 5 minutes, this time towards the end it picked up some and got going a little faster, the throttle took along time to respond too. we brought it in, and leaned up 1/2 a turn, it picked up a little more. i cant quite remember whether i leaned another 1/2 turn or not, but it was still sluggish for the first 2/3 of the tank [it ran about how most .21 boats do on 1/2 to 2/3 throttle, steady and kind of planing, but not really going hard], and got REALLY fast but very hard to control on the last third of the tank. since it's got 13oz of fuel, what i really need it to do is run with the power it had on the last 3rd of the tank, but do this during the first 2/3. should i lean out the needle more? put a BIG prop on [Prather 245], put a slightly different prop on [x440 2 blade], lenghthen the header distance?
we're gonna go bust up the pond first thing tommorrow, so i can try any and all suggestions, just let me know watcha think!
note to PJ: yea, your monitor must be REALLY messed, that head's BLUE- duh! i'll use the plastic one for now, you've got plenty on your hands boatwise already, though if it breaks during a race and sends the boat sailing into the center post, i'll be really mad at myself.
