I'm helping a new model boater with a Lap Cat 3. He bought it on e-Bay, nice looking boat, but no turn fin. I never ran a LC3 so I don't know if it orginally used one or not. I know all the other Prather tunnels I ran had to have a turn fin.

The boats ready to test.

Marty,

Yeah, it's the big 'um. The present owner said the original owner had run an 11cc K&B on it. Got it all ready to go tomorrow. I'll install a turn per your PM.

Thanks,

JD

Hi Jerry,

If Marty has already answered your question, you know that you will want a turn fin. the hull should have t-nuts already installed for it.

I had a 36" with an 11cc on it. Makes a nice sport boat. you may consider changing the factory location of the turn fin. mine used to hook real easy.......... I sold it before I got a chance to try moving it.

Good Luck,

Hi Bob

Both of the prather hulls i brought from you have had the fin shifted back 1/2".

This seems to stop them stuffing it in the turns.

Tried running the lapcat without the fin and it just drifted around the corners.

I have a new 13cc K&B that i am going to set up this summer in a 1/4 scale.(45")

Hope things are going well.

We'll find out today how the boat runs. The owner is supposed to make a turn fin. I have no idea where the t-nuts are because the boat is painted and there's no sign of them. Oh well, I'm thinking this fellow will be building a JD WOF 34 pretty soon anyway.

Well, the new guy didn't make the turn fin. I tried running the boat. Pretty ugly. I told him he couldn't run the Prather. I let him run my 3.5 tunnel. He was happy.

He's going to make the turn fin and we'll try running it again. But, he's going to be racing one of my WOF 34s.
