I sprayed one of my boat the other day and got a little bit of trash in the clear. I’m planning on sanding it with 1000, 1500, 2000 and maybe 3000 grit paper. My question is what is a good compound and polish to finish this out with using an elec buffer? Any suggestions? Below is a pic of the clear that I’m using.

15 years ago I was in the paint store and they had a large bottle of 3m heavy cut compound in the sale bin for $10. I still have it and it works great. I just go straight to polishing compound afterward and there are no swirls or anything, and it gets the job done fast.

Ok, I ended up sanding with 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000 and finished with 3000. I thought I had 2500 but I’m out. Then I hit it with Meguiar’s 105 med cut compound then went back over it and finished with 205 polish. I’m not a painted but I think it turned out pretty good. Thanks guys for all the help and advice.

I have not put any wax on it yet!

I use Perfect-It from 3M Very expensive but awesome product.
#1Compound
#2 Polish
They have a #3 Polish also but #2 does a good enough job.
