How long should I set my pipe on a .12 rigger? I'm running a picco 15 rear exhaust and a prather 215 prop. I have my header cut just about parallel with the engine center line. A measurement from the engine CL is what I'm looking for. I did have it at like 6.5. I just went down to 5.75. It was too long.

Where are you guys running on pipe length?

Hey Anthony. What pipe? If it's the mac 2.5, and if I correctly understand how you're measuring it (center of plug, following c/l of the shaft (not diagonally to pipe), to the widest point of the pipe's belly?), you're still long. My nr rear exhaust is running well at ~3.5 inches measured your way. I'm running the associated 180 header and it is cut very short. There is no straight section at all, it is cut about even with the header flange. The pipe itself must also be cut short as well to reach this pipe length. Have fun, hope this helps.

I'm running an OS 12TR rear exhaust with an Associated 180 header(not cut) and a 2.5 Macs pipe. Not the muffled pipe but the regular one. The widest part of the pipe to even with the plug is approx 4-1/8" and that same measurment to the end of the stinger is 8-1/8". I also measured it with a piece of solder all the way from the center line of the engine thru the header and to the widest part of the pipe. I came up with 7-3/4". I'm not sure that's the best length but it works well with a 1640 cuped on my 12. And yes, my pipe is cut.

I came up with the same as Don, just shy of 7.75 inches from center plug following the centerline of header and pipe. V937/3 prop

Clay,

Sounds like you and I are on pretty much the same page. B) What kind of AOA do you run on your fronts. Mine are at 4 degrees.

Don ;)

Good question :D . I haven't measured the aoa before, and it's all apart now for painting. I'll break out the angle finder when I get her back together and let you know what it's at, ok?

Hey, I just picked up a new Decatur police radar gun, and I'm looking forward to seeing how far I can push the .12 boat and my other riggers as well. 15 years of wanting a good gun, and I finally got one to test setups with. :D

That should be interesting Clay. I'm thinking about a gun myself. Everyone tries to tell me how fast my boat is running but in truth I have no idea. Probably not near as fast as they think!
