What are the latest painting methods for wooden fast electric boats ? 7 years ago i sanded the birch ply hull with #320 dry paper couple coats Krylon primer sand with #320 wet followed by couple of color coats no clear used to save weight but after a while of taping the hatch the paint started to peel. I have heard some builders coat the bare wood first with finishing resin to seal wood grain i have done this to prep my nitro boats for automotive paint finishes . Any input would be great.

I brush on a coat of laminating epoxy resin on. Let is sit for 30-45 minutes to penetrate the wood, then wipe of the excess. Sand with 320 when cured. Paint with your prefference of finish. I've been using krylon for color with PPG Concept clear over the top.
