dont want to make anybody mad or anything., but the jae is quite the hull the way it is ment to be built..... The jae team did thier homework on these hulls,,,,, if the rear pads and the addition to the sponsons was in the plans id say o.k... again like mark said,,,,,, why the extra wieght... ??? If it is not built the way its ment to be......Its not a jae.........

I never said they were JAE's, they are JAE based, the rear shoes are removable, and as I said I'm a tinkerer, with no intentions of racing these (no local clubs anyway), just wanted to try somthing different, weight wise the parts only add about 2.5 oz. total, a lot if racing, but these are for play, and to try some different stuff. I never implied there were any problems with the JAE design. With the shoes removed and the stock sponsons in place I will be able to compare both styles, I'm sure my parts will probably be a bit slower, but wanted to try out some ideas! These are my first riggers, but I enjoy a challenge, and the boats can be converted to pure JAE in less than 5 minutes. I absolutly appreciate the help and comments/concerns though, thanks.

why not think out of the box?go ahead with your experiments and let we know the progress of your project.

Gill,,,there is nothing wrong with thinking out of the box.....nobody said there was.............. mark and i were simply stating the obvious.... Extra wieght......

brett i ment no disrespect or anything in my post........ but it seems many many people alter the jae kits with hopes on making them faster.... the truth is soon revealed... The biggest problem with these situations is that typically that builder will now have no success with that hull,,,, well that carries out in conversations with..."ya,,i had a jae,,,thing wouldnt run right,,or was a piece of crap".... you understand what im saying i hope....

No disrespect taken. I completely understand, my intent is to play with some different stuff but still be able to revert to the original design easily. The same can be said of anyone who modifies their engines, probably wasn't the manufacturers intent and some mods work, some don't, and if a mod doesnt work the person should have the integrity to admit it was their work that failed or caused the failure. Doesn't mean that certain aspects of the modifications do or don't have merit to the person doing the mods. This is why I presented these as JAE BASED and not JAE. One of the true draws to the RC boats is that a person can tinker with stuff to see what happens, this is not really an option with other RC hobbies, helos and cars forget it planes to a certain extent but the boats lend themselves to experimentation!
