Trying to help fellow member with his starts out well and falls off. Still breaking in the motor tried to needle some and pipe stays the same results. We'll try some of the strut settings read here, will check squareness of every part ,bottom is scuffed a bit , Y535 on it now, probably 12th tank.Getting too hot, too cool going lean?

If something is wrong with the cooling, that can cause this. Also, if too lean, that can cause this...

Where is your HSN set at??

Is the prop sharpened and Balanced??

Fuel??

Glow plug??

The strut...should be pretty close to 3/4 from the bottom of the hull, to the center of the stuffing tube where it enters the strut. Put the strut pretty much flat for now (not pointing up or down).

Don't know needle as of now.Where should the HSN be at? We blew all the cooling lines out to check.Prop S&B.,45% byrons.,K&B HP., Pipe had about 1/4 gap,Not my boat so I can't check the needle right now.

Obviously the needle will change with different altitudes and weather conditions, but around here, most of the AQ engines I have played with break in to about 2.25 to 2.5 turns out on the HSN.

Also, most come from the factory with the strut too deep.

Run it without the cowl. WE open the back of the turbine tube up and the vent right in front of the exhaust. My boat is fast with a Grim prop and the strut all the way up. Be sure to sharpen the prop good. Another area is the fuel stopper put a 1/4 piece of wood under the spring for more of a tight fit.

mikey has a great point with the tank leaking pressure,, check the lines for leaks... lose the hp plug,,, you want to use the 1L #7311. thats all i run in the mod aqua's i do..the 1L will create more heat obviously,,, now you take down the heat with more fuel on the needle...sounds like you have a lean condition for sure if it runs for a lap then slows down... the boat should be slobbering rich on land, when it starts to feel a load in the water it will straighten out... best bet is you need to read the glow plug to see if your lean... pipe should be right up against the header,,but really try not to let them rub against each other... ;) ...

the grim 36x55 will for sure get you started... and a prop that small in surface area should have no problem letting the engine rev out constantly...for sure check the strut jam it all the way up till it hits the bolt for starters,, tilt the rudder back so the bottom angles away from the transom,, this creates lift on the transom and will help unload the prop.. makes the boat slightly looser in the water...

Ya thats a small but good prop might have a coupler problem or tank presure.if going lean.I had this simaler problem on a rear exaust engine and it was the gasket on the header and engine.Hope you get it figured out.

Thanks for the help.I use the block under spring trick in my MBX5R buggy, only I use a servo screw block that comes with the kit for different servo brands. If you use a different tank is it still RTR legal. Is the dubro tank with 2 pipettes and cork like Sullivans?

Hope the weather breaks Have lots of boats to test,it rained 5 out of last 7 days off other 2 were like 35F and gloomy.Come on Indian Summer.Lucky I had a JAE to build.
