What about using a remote needle valve inline in the water pickup to "tune" the engine heat?

Pros, cons, thoughts?

Works fine. I reduce the outlet size to limit the flow. You get more outlet stream velocity this way too :)

I used one this past fall it worked out well i used a brass air valve from the pet store (sold in the fish dept) for controling the air flow to the bubbles in the tank. they also sell plastic ones (lighter) i am going to try them this year as soon as the pond thaws.

Another idea that i was thinking about was to tap the rear of the rudder and use a set screw in there? any ideas on that one, will it work, will it back out during use?

POND

THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA, THE ONLY CONCERN I HAVE IS THAT IT MIGHT MOVE OR BREAK OFF FROM THE VIBRATION..

I USE A CARL BRE NEEDLE FOR MY WATER FLOW..

I SEE SOME PEOPLE USE A NYLON COLLAR AND A BOLT TO PINCH OFF THE LINE BUT THEY ARE NOT CONSISTANT

i just use a wire tie (zip strip) on either end to hold the hoses on to eithereend seems to work ok.

What do you think about tapping the rudder and use set screw?
