Question #1:

Got an OPS .45 in a Youngblood mono. What is the OS replacement for the original OPS carb?

Question #2:

Is it the same throat diameter or does it need to be turned or sleeved?

Question #3:

Who's got one they're willing to part with?

Thanks............ :)

I'll have to look when I get home. I just was wondering if there is anything out there that will bolt up to the motor without any modifications.

Thanks........

The closes OS Carb that I found was a 4E. It has to be sleeved to get to the .550 bore of the OPS motor. I removed the high speed needle(using remote) and cut off the low speed needle. I also cut the spray bar to line up in the center of the carb bore. We have it in a Sport 40 and the throttle control is great.

Hope this helps.

Is the carbs venturi bore .550? or the mounting spigot .550?

My guess the mount spigot O.D.

Measure the I.D. of the actual bore of carb and let us know.

Scott

PS. a carb ventuiri bore of .550 is huge !! and would feed a .90 or larger !!

I used a 4E with an OPS 45 several years back. I don't know if the newer ones have the same throat diameter as the older ones, but I had to use a collar for the O.S carb because the throat in the case was too big for it.

Yea, I was just hoping for something that didn't need any modification to fit. Maybe I'll just stick with getting a new OPS carb. Anyone have a source for OPS parts?

Thanks everyone.........

Russell,

Look under OPS engines for the stock carb. Make sure it is for your model (disk valve) engine I think the new ones (drum valve) are different.

Aeromarine also sells an aftermerket carb for the 45 but its $80.

Contact Jeff Baham.

When I sold him my old OPS 45 i sent two carbs with it (one was blue). Both were good so unless he figured out a way to run both carbs at once, you may be able to pry one away from him.

By the way, The OPS 67 carb from that era had the same sized throat OD and drop right in a 45! We never did measure the ID of the barrel but I'm sure it was a little bigger. semed to run better :) .

When I was running an OPS 45 I replaced that clunker carb with a K & B red carb. I used a grimracer adapter. It worked real good. easier needle & performance was good.
