i have a OPS 21 i got used im not sure on the neddle settings so i wana run it in break in and work my way from there how do i set it its got a wheel that u turn on the side how many turns do go out after i screw it all the way in ?

where do you live?

it should be about 3.5-4 turns out if it is a newer side exaust

im in cali let me get some pics of it so u get a idea i dont think its the stock carb

i cant tell from the picture if it is a newer carb. the problem with the new carbs is they are the same inside diameter as the ops .67. i have yet to find a .21 engine with the same size carb. i dont know what crackhead at ops decided to use the same carb on all three of thier engines  really a crappy idea

ok that is a newer carb its a pita to tune i have wondered if it would be a good idea to switch it to a k&b gold or red carb. the only problem with switching it is you would need to find a adapter

yeah no problem. i have had a few problems with getting my dads ops to start on the stand but when it goes it flat hauls butt

Hi Guy

If you want a good carby for it try an OS - I used to run one on my one of these engines. Only thing needed was a minute amount reduced on the carb stub - did it in a lathe but you could do it with a file if careful.

Gary,

I never thought I would hear you suggest something that rough!!! :p

550 racer - DON'T use a file - if you get air leaks it will be impossible to tune consistently. Get it done properly on a lathe.

Tim - not rough use a smooth file. :p In all seriousness it could be sanded down with wet n dry it's so close a fit.
