What has happened to Odonnell Boat fuels? We use to see it @ all of the Races. Many of the Top qualifiers raced Odonnell fuels. I use to purchase 25-30 cases (a pallet) a year from the Odonnels in CA. Today is is near impossible to find & the price is double or triple of the Fuels being Raced. It has never been the Cheapiest fuel. When the Distrubution & mfgering changed from the west to the midwest? I`am surprised that the Prices are OUT OF REACH & No one is racing this fuel @ the Boat Races. SAD :( ... Maybe the Best Fuel Blend ever mfgered...

well you hit the nail on the head..the cost is outrageous.... i also liked the fuel when i used it,,it ran great,,,although i did every once in a while get a bad couple jugs which really upset me as again the cost was so high...I Have since switched to otto's fuel and ill tell ya i would never go back....i think its a superior fuel,,,remember thats my opinion,,,but you will hear the same from many others as well....

Hello Joe. After 9-11, the dept. of homeland security made it illegal for the fuel manufacturers to make any fuel above 50%. That is why the supply of 60% dried up.

Eric I heard the same. Redmax quit selling 60 percent for a while when the Nitro went SKY HIGH after the CHINA olympics....... But the REDMAX Web site shows 60 percent again........& Nitro is back to Normal prices......

Seems odonnell is More interested in selling QUARTS to the car guys

Techonolgy fuel is Good. I have Won Many Races with it..... B)

hi joe, from what i am told from a friend that manufactuers fuel,o'donell's sold the rights to tower hobbies(great plains)and they are the one's selling it.

prices are rediclous and there are better fuels out there.as far as getting high nitro after 9/11 that is a bunch of bull. i have always had access to any %

that i wanted to buy. the big deal is fed X impossing a huge fee on gallons shipped nand everybody jumped onto the band wagon.mike.

yes, I understand that Great Plains bought the rights to dist the Odonnell Boat fuel..... I`am surprised that they have killed the Boat Fuel sales with the HIGH COST....... I bought it for years for 25.00 per gallon & Paid HAZ Motor freight shipping (a pallet). It would equal out to be approx $30 per gallon received.......

Mike, before you respond to a post as being "a bunch of bull" you may want to check your facts. Call ANY fuel maker and they will tell you they are now limited to 50%. I have had federal agents come to my hobbyshop and brief me on things to look out for since 9-11 and confirm the new nitro fuel laws. I have been buying bulk nitro for 25 years and now I have to fill out a ton of Department of Homeland Security paper work to get it.....all due to 9-11. And even though I knew better, after your post I called O'Donnell today and confirmed what I posted earlier.

A few years ago Hobbico purchased the O’Donnell fuel line.

A few things we have discovered.

Number one:

It is expensive.. the "Special Additives" are part of the issue but as we all know there has been some issues or perceived issues with home land security. Truth is I think its all a gentlemen’s agreement across the larger fuel MFG groups to back off on the nitro to try to save some cost.. just does not seem to be working all that well does it.

Number two: For those that care, it can stain paint. I have "GIVEN" ODO fuel away at races ONLY to have it given away again because said free fuel dude says... I aint running that in my boat.. I can not afford to have it screw up my paint job!.. Im not talking joe blow here im talking top racers in the country..

When I was running the fuel I liked it. It was easy to needle and ran well.. it was a tick hard on plugs but OK.. I get it.. that’s the cost of racing..(until I developed AquaCraft/Grimracer fuel I just thought they were lean runs.. I know that was not always true), I never had it jack up one of my "good" paint jobs (not to bad anyway, a little around the exhaust area on my "white Scale boat") but have had to discolor my RTR boats.

Im really not trashing the fuel.. its good stuff.. but when you give it away only to see it given away again.. you have to listen and react to what is going on.

One more thing, synthetic lubrication in general has changed a in the last 20 years. I know.. good same old that’s worked for years right…. Do we really need to think that way… na..

Rock and Roll!

I just bought 60% from FHS/red max just 1 month ago. If you buy 4 or 5 gallons you can get it for $37 Avg. They ship in quarts to avoid the hasmat fee's. as most do.

The local hobby shop has 65 O'Donnell's in stock at $50 a gallon. I ordered Byron's 55 from an other shop by the case $38 a gallon. Have since started using John Otto's fuel and will never turn back.
