You all are welcomed to attend the November Records trials November 11, 12, 13 , 2004 Thursday Friday and Saturday. Hosted by the Huntsville Model Boating Association. Hope to see some more FE guys try and take the Hughey's FE records.

Hey, how long is the lake at Huntsville, along the run line through the traps. I'm interested in the length of run-up and slow-down. You can get a good measurement from the terraserver photos:

http://terraserver.microsoft.com/address.aspx

Just enter the address and center the lake in the photo. it will display a scale at the bottom of the photo. Not as good as a survey, but close enough. Thanks. :)

input from the site says it the runout area with race site centered is total of 400 yards subtract 330feet from 400 yards and divide by 2 . Andy Brown and some of the other 100 mph club members never had much of a problem with the runout area/ length. Address Drake Avenue, Huntsville, AL 35805 head norhteast on the map when the site pulls it up the little white square in th epicture is th ewaterski jump south of that there is another white square that is the concrete launch area and is the center of the course. Check it out.

The photo below shows that the total length at Huntsville is ca. 2100 feet - no wonder no one has problems, this is a large lake. Legg Lake is about the same size (ca. 1900 feet) with the same off-center course. I just wondered if the Huntsvile Lake was significantly larger, but it is not. Thanks.

Huntsville

Legg Lake is below. The course is between the large island and the south shore running roughly east-west.

I'd love to attend your November SAW, but I'll be running at the one in California that weekend. It would be a great idea to not schedule two major SAWs for the same weekend. But, it does give the follks on the East Coast a chance to run closer to home if they can't make the long flight to LA. Maybe next time!

Our records trials are usually in October and November we use dto have one in Feb but the weather was always BAD, we tried one in APR last year but it was too close to the racing season.

I wasn't meaning to be critical, I know there are good reasons for the timing. In a perfect world we'd have four major SAW races each year - one each quarter, with each in a different part of the country to maximize the total number of participants per year. But that's just dreaming.....
