I just got my new DD46 for Glenn and it looks like an amazing motor although I think I am going to have some challenges mounting it in the Eagle. Since the motor is actually a turn around motor with a PTO off the backplate for the flywheel and output shaft the whole motor mounting is shifted towards the flywheel a good 7/8". This presents a number of problems:
1) This will impact the CG of the boat
2) The engine head is no longer centered in the cowl and will cut into the side of the narrow section at the rear.
3) Redrilling the motor mounts may not solve the problem because I cannot move the motor back 7/8" on the mounts without sliding it off the rail and I think the original crank will now hit the boom.
Has anyone solved this and what did you do? Also what is the optimal CG of an Eagle?
Thanks,
D
