need help seting up an old northwind 40

1 prop type?

2 prop depth?

i got it off ebay, for $40, thought it might be fun to mess with

thanks

John...Is the hull set-up with any hardware now? I don't know if the hull would respond to surface drive but maybe with prop centerline 3/8 to 1/2" below hull bottom and 2 1/2 to 3" behind the transom set to the right side of center (viewed from rear). A standard tapered wedge rudder may want to lift the back of the boat in turns, but Dumas has a little stainless blade that is used on their SK series ski boats and their Sorcerer that is wider at the bottom that may help lock the boat down in the turns ( I found this out by putting a tapered rudder on my Sorcerer and the boat wanted to roll to the outside in the turns, problem went away with the other blade). no harware installed yet, there was a stuffing tube that i removed and it was set to the left of the center line,i have seen a few pics

of some simmilar hulls and they too were on the left? they also seam to have the prop fully submerged and some had prop under the hull some

were in back a inch or so .i have no idea what to do, i had a simmilar boat 25 years ago never got it to go no matter what i did

but i was just akid with no money and one prop for all my boats

I remember that boat from back in the early 70's. At the time, with a good SuperTiger or K&B 40 in it, it was scarey fast.

yes, I remember the Northwind mono hulls, they were scary fast! Such a unique design.

I can remember a Northwind A-mono class, with SuperTigre X-15, nearly as fast as many B-mono's.
