As a newbie to this sport and wanting at least a 40 inch hull (deep vee or cat), would you recommend going nitro or gas? Also want something with a clutch. I have previous experience with both (1/4 scale Zenoah Sprint Car and am now playing with EK4 Truck with .70 Thunder Tiger Nitro Engine). Thanks ???

Clutch? That means gasoline.

also a water pump so you don't toast the engine idling around.

Gas races very well without the clutch.

Yes ,I know, but the gasoline engine exhibits better idling qualities than the nitro unit.

Nitro is at its best when screaming along WOT,not trolling around.

Hanging the clutches I have seen on nitro motors sure kills bearings fast. If he wants a clutch it's rather obvious he just wants a play boat and not a race boat. So go Gas less support equipment and upkeep. And the fuel is cheep. Also no after run oil required.

Thanks for the help so far. I'll probably end up with a cat and Zenoah. I don' want to race as I live in Iowa and haven't found too many racing contacts at my local hobby shop. But I do want speed.
